FrankenSport - Interior
The interior was stripped bare, new floor pans installed, the rear tubbed, and a new custom interior planned. Check out the Body Modification section for more pictures.
One of the first steps was to ditch the stock gauges and install Autometer Phantom gauges. To hold the gauges and for a different look, Custom Machining helped in making up custom gauge panels. This is the speedo and tach gauges in their new aluminum mounting.
Finding room for the all the usual gauges (Volt, Water Temp, Oil Pressure, Fuel Level) plus additional Fuel Pressure, Boost, and Air/Fuel will require an additional pod on the dash.
Time to finalize everything and start the wiring. Nothing like cutting up brand new gauge consoles.
The lights will be tied into the original dash harness and light switch for adjustable dimming.
HVAC system, ductwork, and vacuum system all restored and back in the car.
Putting it all together:
The Dash Install. This was a lot of fun! The custom made billett dash panels and Autometer gauges look great. The 3 switches in the ashtray are kill switches for the Fuel Pump, Electric Fans, and Intercooler pump.
Although a brand new reproduction dash looks great, making it fit is a considerable amount of work. Nothing fits like original parts. Getting it all to come together and look great takes a lot of time, and patience.
And a little red carpet to spice things up.
And it all comes together in the end. And comfortably!
