Joanne's 98 Black/Black C5 Coupe
This 98 coupe has 100,000 miles on it and still running strong. The car currently had the following modifications installed by us:
With the above mods the car turned 12 seconds flat at 120mph on street tires. Since then we installed a Yank 3600rpm Torque Converter and Nitto 305/35-18 Drag Radial Tires.
New Modifications (entire top end of the motor) done October 23-25, 2005:
We will be testing the results of the above modifications at the track November 5, 2005. Expectations are that the car should be in the low to mid 11's. (Update 05/05/06 - car turned 11.2 @ 121mph at Lebanon Valley Dragway with a 150shot spray and 12.3 @ 111mph without it. With a little tweaking we may break into the 10's wth it and 11's without it).
Disassembly:
Ported, polished and surfaced late model LS1 heads
Clean-up and reassembly - not bad for 100k miles!
A sleeper-screamer with a nice little rumble to it.
Looks basically stock. Only problem is thrashing the tires. The 305/35 drag
radials
hook-up pretty good. But you can still see the trail of tires smoking in the
rearview
mirror, especially when you hit the Nitrous!
Dyno sheets and Track Time Slips to follow
Because of all the increase in power the stock tranny with 100k miles on it couldn't keep up with the rest of the car. A Level 4 beefed up tranny was installed which will more than handle the power now. While apart, new rear carrier axle seals were installed to eliminate a leak that had developed.
The transmission included.
