Work to be done includes:
Remove and reseal engine and transmission
Detail engine and engine compartment
Rear gear swap from 2.73 to 3.55

Installation of new Mufflers
Replace Fuel Sending Unit
Engine pictures before work being done:
Fuel tank removed and area cleaned up and painted:
New mufflers and shocks installed:
Rear axle repair
The engine and tranny for removed to reseal and to clean up and detail the engine and compartment. Overall the engine was not in bad shape. We'll throw a new timing chain on while apart and check everything over. Once assembled, it's gonna look great!
The intake and exhaust manifolds before, and after sandblasting, and the exhaust after hi-temp coating.
And starting to look like a new engine!
Inside, outside, upside down!
Trunk Clean-up - Before and After. Remove surface rust then Prime and Paint
And putting humpty dumpty back together again while more detailing work goes on:
Tear down and ready to install some 3.55's for some more get-up and go:
Transmission is in. New Torque Converter. And a lot of clean-up underneath!
Looking Good!!!

Now that we finished putting it all back together, lets take it apart again. John decided that after all the work done, he wanted to do the bodywork and paint to bring it all together.
First step is to strip it down and have the car media blasted so we can see what we are working with. The next steps are not very pretty but are necessary. In the end, it will be worth it.
You never know what lurks under the paint of that used classic you just bought. Although we found a number of issues here, fortunately there really is nothing drastic. Windshield and rear window frames looked good. We planned to replace the hood anyway. So a little nip, tuck, and weld and she'll be good as new.
Sheet metal has been removed. Door jams have been all hand sanded down. There was a few spots that will need some attention.
You could actually see some of the original gold paint in a few spots.
A little nip and tuck, patch and weld. Starting to come together and looking good!
All previous filler has been removed. All holes have been correctly welded in and patched.
No pain on gain as the saying goes. Not pretty right now but this is necessary and in the end will more then be worth it. Every inch of the car is gone over in detail.
Two steps forward and one step back. The body is coming along great. We do however have to step back and rebuild some of both the front and back window frames. Somebody did a good job hiding it but prior rust was just bubba'd up.
And starting to look like a car! Sealed/primed and blocked. Some finishing left to do then on to color primer.

It's all in the details. Every spot gets worked no matter how hard to get at.
There are reds, and there are reds, and this is RED
Almost done. Putting it all back together again
And this is what it's all about.
