Wayne's Yellow 03' Z06
One of the benefits about the type of work that we do is working on (and cutting up) newer and very clean Corvettes. This beauty has only 5k on the clock and is like new insides, outside, and even upside down.
In addition to previous mods including the HRE wheels (19's in the front and 20's in the back), and a hi-rise hood, it was time for some more go. Wayne chose to go with the new MagnaCharger Model 122. We will also be adding an LS2 90mm throttle body. To top it off, the car will be computer tuned to make the most of the new additions.
As in all our Supercharger installations, the first step is to pin the balancer to keep it from spinning under the load of the supercharger and belt. To do so the rack and pinion needs to be moved out of the way. The starter also has to be removed and a tool bolted in it's place to lock up the engine to remove and install the balancer bolt.
The top of the engine is then tornn down and the intake and valley cover removed. These items are replaced with new parts included with the MagnaCharger. Again, it's so clean it looks like new.
As part of the water cooled intercooler system a heat exchanger (like a small radiator) is installed in the front air dam. An electric pump is then installed in the right front bumper area and the hoses and wiring are then routed up to the battery box where the tank and relay will be installed. The fuse box is removed to access the wiring harnesses below. The relays will be wired directly into existing systems.
Parts is parts as the saying goes, but these are NICE Parts! We may a few changes from the installation instructions and run our own PCV and Vacuum lines to make things a little neater. In this project we are also upgrading the throttle body to the new LS2-90mm which requires a new conversion harness and a few changes.
